public relations with the jacksonville jaguars

People ask me all the time what I do in my job, and honestly, it is a little bit of everything.

If you want to be official, you can read my resume, but here is a glimpse into my days at work.

Many times during the year, we don't know what day it was. Oftentimes it's a seven-days-a-week deal, but it's one of those "I get to" instead of "I have to" go to work things.

Practices, press conferences, interviews, events, lots of stats and InDesign, and some really cool work perks keep us rolling between game days.

I started in July right before training camp, where we started with 90 players, eventually cut down to 53 (and practice squad) a chunk at a time by the end of August. Players and coaches friends and family and select fan groups could watch, and media could cover all of practice, a daily press conference, and get post-practice interviews before we headed back to the stadium for the afternoon to get up and do it all again the next day.

It is awesome how many community events players and coaches can be involved in and how many work with and support projects on their own (Tyler Shatley with Grounds of Grace and Seamark Ranch, for example). One event I attended with the media and players was a cancer survivors fun night at a bowling alley and arcade.

This year Tony Boselli was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as the first Jaguar to earn a gold jacket. Several events were hosted in Jacksonville in celebration, including a party and premier of an in-house-produced documentary on his story. I would definitely watch!

Josh Allen was a player host on a Thursday night show, All Access, with our local partner TV station. Another guest player rotated each week. Strings Sports Brewery was the location.

This is the PR and Photo group! What an office.

Home games begin early in the week with the added tasks of hosting, like credentials, parking, seating arrangements, etc. There is so much excitement all around on Sundays! I run around for a while earlier in the day then spend most of the game in the press box. Post-game I took stat books to both teams, managed media in open locker room, then worked on postgame notes and quotes to post and email out. Toward the end of the season and playoff game, I got to go to the sidelines in the fourth quarter and onto the field for player interviews postgame.

Once training camp is over, media is only allowed to watch a certain period at the beginning of practice (no team plays), and a PR staffer or few will attend practice with them.

We have open locker room for internal and external media after every practice for them to capture video and article content. There is also a lot of ping pong played (article, video in post). Our social team also gets some great TikTok content from pre-practice and locker room, too.

It's not all hard work; the Jaguars organization knows how to take care of its people, too. From Food Truck Fridays to front desk freebies, activities during the work day and access to local events, not to mention a ton of awesome people, there is always something or somebody to add an extra boost to your day.

One of the greatest was the Christmas party! Celebrating my favorite holiday with my favorite people, and a reason for fancy things? Don't have to tell me twice.
