Assistant director of media relations at mercer university

I started working at Mercer just before the fall sports got into full swing in 2023. Fall was sort of my time to chill before I lived out of a suitcase for seven months. I helped with home volleyball games, did social media for cross country, tailgated with men's basketball then helped with football game day.

Once October hit, I was on the road at least once a week, a few times for a whole week at a time for a multi-game road trip or tournament. Thanksgiving week in Florida with a huge homemade lunch in a beach house with all the guys and coaches was one of my favorite weeks from the fall. Crossover season hit me hard when I had post-season basketball and early season baseball at the same time. I spent the conference tournament courtside in Asheville (men's and women's because the women's SID couldn't be there) while also covering baseball's series at Oklahoma State. I can't lie, it was not a great time, but as my boss said, I "got thrown into the deep end and didn't drown."

 

Baseball season was a lot of fun and a little slower paced since we were almost always gone for three days at a time or more. I loved getting to explore the cities when we weren't at practice or games. Sports always have their heated moments, but I got a lot of laughs out of that year, too.
