Shalane has now released multiple cookbooks, starting with Run Fast, Eat Slow, a New York Times Best Seller, with her co-author and nutritionist Elyse Kopecky.


Flanagan and Kopecky encourage runners to ditch the calorie-conscious diet, and embrace whole foods. Their motto is “food should be both indulgent and nourishing and need not be time consuming to prepare.”

Lots of healthy fats are a key in her diet.

Molly Seidel

Pro runner for Puma, 2020 Olympic Marathon bronze medalist, 4x NCAA National Champion

Instagram: @bygolly.molly In college at Notre Dame, she struggled with OCD, depression, anxiety, and an eating disorder, while still being an multiple-time NCAA champion.

It caught up to her with a string of injuries post-college, along with further-deteriorating mental health, and Molly skipped the Olympic trials to enter a treatment program.

Five years later, she became an Olympic bronze medalist.
